We're in the midst of summer, and it's shaping up to be a good one! It's a great time for families to soak up the last bit of summer break and enjoy all the happenings here along the Emerald Coast. Weekly events take place in popular communities and hot spots in our area. August has lots of fun and family-friendly local happenings – including beach days! Check them out and plan a visit. Autos In August
When: August 13th
Where: The Village of Baytowne Wharf @ Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort
Description: Calling all Muscle Cars, Jeeps, Vettes, 4x4s, Exotics, and Imports! Join The Village of Baytowne Wharf and Emerald Coast Customs on Saturday, August 13th from 11AM - 3PM for Autos in August. Enjoy a day of fun, sun, and cars! Visitors are welcome to walk around The Village of Baytowne Wharf and look at the cars PLUS enter raffles and win FREE prizes.
Registration limit 100 cars. First come first serve. Vehicle registration includes a FREE Emerald Coast Customs T-shirt. Pre Entry Fee is $15 per vehicle and $25 after August 1st. Prizes will be awarded in more than 6 categories and trophies will be given for nine different classes. Join fellow car-lovers for a fun day and help raise money for Children in Crisis.

Where: Henderson Beach State Park
Description: The 10th Annual Paddle at the Park Sponsored by HCA Florida Destin Emergency, a standup paddle board race event, is returning to the beautiful white sandy beaches of Henderson Beach State Park on Aug. 20, 2022. It offers races for all age and skill levels, with its Kids’ Fun Paddle, 1-Mile Beginner Ride, 3-Mile Recreational Race, and 6-Mile Elite Race.

The weekend fun begins on Friday, Aug. 19, with a Racer Welcome Party at BOTE, an international paddle board brand headquartered in the Destin area. It continues on Saturday morning with the races, which have staggered start times. Racers and spectators alike will enjoy the festive atmosphere with displays and booths set up along the beach. The event will conclude with awards.

Summer Haze Music Festival
When: August 21st
Where: The Bay + North Beach Social
Description: Southern Sound Music Alliance presents the Summer Haze Music Festival! This full day event will feature some of SoWal’s favorite musicians at both The Bay and North Beach Social with a portion of proceeds benefitting the Alaqua Animal Refuge. General admission is free. World famous auctioneer Ted Corcoran will be hosting the festivities. Incredible packages will be available during the silent and live auctions. Packages include week vacations in Aspen, Colorado and Livingston, Montana. There are fishing trips, restaurant packages, and, as always, Yoshie’s catered Christmas or office party for up to 30 people.

Harbor Docks Charities helps fund the annual Take-A-Kid Fishing Day. Some 300 children will be treated to a day of fishing on the Gulf of Mexico or Choctawhatchee Bay. Each child - and their chaperones - are served breakfast before boarding one of Destin's finest charter boats for a morning of fishing. Upon return, the day is celebrated with a fish fry lunch, and every child is sent home with a t-shirt and their own rod and reel.
