Emerald Coast Events | December 2019







December is a special time here on the Emerald Coast. The weather is finally crisp and cool, the water is crystal clear, the sunsets are stunning, and many winter festivities take place. If you're in town this month or lucky enough to be local – here are some happenings to check out along the Emerald Coast. 

FESTIVALS & HAPPENINGS:


Ugly Sweater Party 
When: December 7th
WhereLouis Louis
Description: 'Tis the Season! Louis Louis will host their Annual Ugly Sweater Bash on Saturday, December 7th from 9pm 'til late night. The Marines will be present to collect gifts for children in need. Bring one new, unwrapped gift for a drink ticket and get your groove on with DJ Michael Desciple! No matter how tacky, itchy, and overly festive some may think Christmas sweaters are, Louis Louis wants to celebrate every inch of green, red, and jingly bells. Deck the halls, don your gay apparel and get ready to jingle around the clock. It's time to celebrate the customers who keep the restaurant going year-round. Show up in your best ugly christmas sweater to party in Santa Claus style!



Tee Off For Toys
When: December 8th-9th
Where: Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort
Description: Get in the winter spirit at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort as they Tee Off for Toys December 7th & 8th. Sandestin will offer golf at all three of its public courses, Raven Golf Club, Baytowne Golf Club, and The Links Golf Club. People are asked to donate new, unwrapped toys or gift cards with a value of $15 or more and in exchange, guests can play Sandestin's golf courses for just the green and golf car fee ($20). All toys and donations will be given to Harvest House’s “Hope for Holidays” and Children in Crisis programs, both benefiting children and families in need this holiday season. Local residents, guests, and visitors are welcome to participate. Tee times are available all day and can be made by calling 850.267.8155.


South Walton Elf Ride
When: December 8th

Description: The 12th annual South Walton Elf Ride takes place Sunday, December 8, 2019, at 1pm. It's a local holiday adventure on bikes. Meet at the starting place in costumes and decorated bikes at Van Ness Butler, Jr. Beach Access parking lot on Western Lake Dr in WaterColor and make the trek to the SWFD's Fire Station at WaterColor Crossings. Participants will walk, bike or longboard the 1.5-mile distance to the fire station on Hwy 395 at WaterColor Crossings. If you aren't able to make the trek you can meet up with everyone at the SWFD firehouse party! Participants are asked to bring at least one unwrapped gift to benefit the SWFD's Angel Tree Program. There will be prizes for Best Costume and Best Bike Decor! Click here for more info.



Ice Skating Extravaganza

WhereBaytowne Wharf
Description: The Village of Baytowne Wharf will host the fourth annual Ice Skating Extravaganza at Baytowne on Ice skating pavilion. The event will feature two performances from well-known skaters, Dylan David Moscovitch and Kristin Cowan, on Friday, Dec. 13 at 6:00pm & 7:30pm. Both skaters will be sharing tips and tricks. Free and open to the public. Before and in between the shows, lace up those skates and glide around with the pros.



Rosemary Beach Holiday Tour of Homes

Description: Mark your calendars for the Inaugural Holiday Home Tour on Saturday, December 14th at 1pm in the community of Rosemary Beach. A few of the most stunning homes have been selected, decorated in their finest, guaranteed to get you into the holiday spirit. All proceeds benefit the Boys and Girls Club of the Emerald Coast.


33rd Holiday on the Harbor Destin Boat Parade
WhenDecember 15th
WhereHarborWalk Village
DescriptionThe Destin Harbor will be dancing with holiday lights and cheer during the 33rd Annual Holiday on the Harbor Destin Boat Parade. The celebration begins at Boshamps where boats festively decorated with holiday lights and décor line-up and begin drifting along the Harbor past HarborWalk Village toward the Destin Bridge and Norriego Point. Margaritaville and Harry T’s offer the perfect spot for parade viewing. The evening ends with a bang as fireworks light up the sky. Enjoy a Sunday of holiday fun! A fireworks show sponsored by HarborWalk Village will light up the sky at the end of the boat parade. All commercial, charter, and private boats are invited to help light up the Harbor with the true Destin spirit. To enter your boat in the parade stop by the Destin History and Fishing Museum or contact the Destin History & Fishing Museum.


Winter Wonderland
When: December 21st

Description: The Village of Baytowne Wharf invites you to experience some holiday magic with them on Saturday, December 21 beginning at 9am. The Event Plaza is turning into a Winter Wonderland full of real snow! Slide down an ice slide, make snow angels, and enjoy a day of frosty fun for the whole family. Come out and stroll The Village of Baytowne Wharf after dark. Beautiful holiday decor and sparkling lights throughout the Village will fill your family with the spirit of Christmas.

Emerald Coast Events | October 2019




October is truly a special time here on the Emerald Coast. The weather starts to cool, sunsets are somehow even more remarkable than usual, and some of the best events of the year take place. If you haven't made a visit here this year – now is the time! If you're lucky enough to be local, enjoy it all! 

FESTIVALS & HAPPENINGS:


When: October 4th-6th
WhereHarborwalk Village @ Destin Harbor
Description: Come out to the world's luckiest fishing village for a great weekend of seafood, live music, and family fun. More than 70,000 locals and visitors are expected to attend, and this three-day festival will be filled with great seafood and live entertainment on the Destin Harbor. Free admission.

Panama City Beach Oktoberfest
When: October 4th-6th
Where: Panama City Beach @ Aaron Bessant Park
Description: Enjoy three days of German and locally brewed beer, food, music, as well as activities for kids and families. The event will feature a massive tent decorated like the authentic Oktoberfest tent in Munich, Germany, as well as two outdoor beer gardens and a VIP section under the tent. Enjoy three days of fun!

Walton County Fair

WhereThe Village of Baytowne Wharf @ Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort
Description: Time to roll out the barrel and discover unique suds and ales! The main event will feature more than 200 domestic and international craft beers available for sampling. Brewery representatives will be available at the event, offering an opportunity to learn about the different types of lagers and ales from a variety of styles. Live entertainment will be also featured during the festival with Luke Langford Band from 2-4pm, and then The Shakedown from 4:30-6:30pm. Cheers! Boggy Fest

DescriptionThe annual festival honoring the mullet began in 1976 as a small event unheard of outside of Niceville. Today, Boggy Fest is one of the South’s most celebrated festivals and in 2011 was named one of the top 12 food festivals in the nation.

Description: The Flutterby Festival, produced by the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County, celebrates its 26th year of the migration of the Monarch Butterfly through our area with art activities, live music, theatre, and dance performances, art exhibits, and a butterfly parade! Animoré | A Weekend Benefit for the Love of Animals

Where: Future Home of Alaqua Animal Refuge
Description: Alaqua Animal Refuge invites you to the first annual weekend festival in celebration of and for the love of animals. Animoré will take place on the grounds of Alaqua Animal Refuge's future home in Freeport, Florida. The weekend showcases two events: The 6th Annual 100 Point and Cult Wine Dinner and the Inaugural Barn Jam. Join the Emerald Coast community as the 2019 winners will be on display at Grand Boulevard for the 20th annual Best of the Emerald Coast celebration. Sweet Sunday: Pumpkins & Primrose
When: October 20th
WhereThe Henderson
Description: Sweet Sunday: Pumpkins and Primrose will give the community the opportunity to experience fashion, family, and flavors of fall at The Henderson. The epicenter of the event will be a newly added pumpkin patch provided by The Village Church for guests to purchase a pumpkin to take home. The pumpkin patch will also adorn an oversized decorated backdrop to give local residents a place to bring their kids and take fall-themed family photos to commemorate the season. There will be a grand prize raffle featuring a deluxe stay at The Henderson including room accommodations, spa treatments, and meals at their pristine restaurants. Along with The Henderson package, the grand prize will also include exclusive items from every vendor in attendance. Raffle tickets will be on sale at the event and one hundred percent of the proceeds from the raffle will benefit The Sonder Project.

Emerald Coast Events | September 2019



With fall coming this month the weekly summer activities drop off and more annual events take place! September is filled with fun events, good causes, and family-friendly activities. There are a few festivals, some charity events, and lots of fun to be had. We've listed a few of our favorite happenings below. Plan a weekend to visit, or if you're lucky enough to be local, enjoy it all!  


FESTIVALS & HAPPENINGS:

WhereThe Village of Baytowne Wharf @ Sandestin
Description: Welcome to The Village of Baytowne Wharf for an end of summer celebration of art bayside in Sandestin, Florida. Stroll the village streets as you browse a variety of artwork from regional and local artists. Admission is free and open to the public. The main stage at the events Plaza will feature live music nightly from 5-10pm. Stick around for fireworks on Sunday at 9:15 pm. What a perfect time of year to spend the evening bayside in Baytowne, in the heart of Sandestin, Florida.

Patriot Golf Day @ Sandestin 
When: Friday, August 30th - Monday, September 2nd
Where: Sandestin Golf Courses
Description: Sandestin is offering $25 rounds of golf for all retired, active, and veteran military members this Labor Day Weekend, Aug. 30th - Sept. 2nd as they host Patriot Golf Day(s) at Sandestin. Military guests are invited to play on Sandestin’s championship golf courses including Raven Golf Club, Baytowne Golf Club, and The Links Golf Club. Golfers can call 850.267.8155 to book tee times at The Links, Baytowne and Raven. Members of the military can also take advantage of this special program at the exclusive Burnt Pine Golf Club for $70 rounds of golf for all military members. Harborwalk Village Labor Day Concert Celebration

Description: HarborWalk Village is sending this sizzling summer off with a bang! Gather the whole family for a Labor Day Concert Celebration set to take place Saturday, August 31st & Sunday, September 1st. Prepare yourself for an evening of live music all weekend long with fireworks along the world-famous Destin Harbor on Sunday night.

Description: It's all in the BACON! This new event will highlight local eateries and their take on bacon-themed food. Tasting is between 1pm and 3pm. Samples are only $1.00. All proceeds from the fun-filled day will benefit A Bed 4 Me Foundation, a local non-profit providing beds for children in Okaloosa County who would otherwise be sleeping on the floor or in other inadequate spaces. Spend the day taking in a favorite pork product with enjoying live music by Hollard, an auction with repurposed headboards painted by local artists, craft vendors, and a People's Choice winner. In addition, vendors and attendees will have a chance to win $10,000 sponsored by Rhonda Faulk - Certainty Home Loans.



HarborWalk Village Arts & Drafts

Description: Kick-off your weekend with an evening of live music, craft brews, and interactive art! Beginning at 6pm, stroll the Harbor sampling seasonal brews and shop for unique, one-of-a-kind items created by talented local artisans. Sacred Heart Charity Golf Classic

Description: The Sacred Heart Hospital's esteemed 19th Annual Charity Golf Classic, held at Burnt Pine Golf Club in Sandestin, will take place Friday, September 20th. Check-in begins at 8:00 a.m. followed by breakfast and a shotgun scramble at 10:00am. Players can look forward to a silent auction, bourbon and cigar tent, and other fun surprises. On course refreshments and snacks will be provided throughout the day. An awards ceremony, lunch, and entertainment will follow course play. The 2019 Charity Golf Classic proceeds are directed to the expansion of the Comprehensive Spine Program at Ascension Sacred Heart Emerald Coast. Proceeds raised will be used to purchase state-of-the-art robotic surgical equipment for a new fifth operating room dedicated to the robotic spine program. Description: Well, shiver me timbers – The Village of Baytowne Wharf is celebrating International Talk Like a Pirate Day on Friday, Sept. 20th. Enjoy an evening full of adventure with special guest Capt'n Davy beginning at 5pm. Dress in your best pirate costume and get ready for a scavenger hunt, magic show, face painting, costume contest and much more.


International Coastal Beach Cleanup
When: Saturday, September 21st | 8am-10:30am
WhereOkaloosa Island | Destin | Miramar Beach
Description: The family-friendly event starts at 8 a.m. and includes free t-shirts on a first-come, first-serve basis the morning of the event. Prizes will be awarded for the most cigarette butts collected and a social media photo contest! ***Online Registration Required – and limited! ***

Sandestin Run/Sup Race 
When: Saturday, September 21st | 8-10am
WhereBaytowne Marina @ Sandestin
Description: Come out to the Sandestin Run/Sup Race at the Baytowne Marina. Participants will complete a one mile run from the Baytowne Marina to the Jolee nature trails and back, immediately followed by a one mile stand up paddleboard around the cove in the Bay. Prizes will be awarded for the fastest male, female, and youth (14 and under.) $30 Registration. Be sure to visit the silent auction to view items including a Yolo Bike, New Orleans Saints Swag, and more, with all proceeds to benefit the Sandestin Foundation for Kids. Click here to register!

WhereSeascape Resort | Miramar Beach
Description: As one of the official Big Green Egg Festivals held around the country, Eggs on the Beach will be a delicious afternoon for the entire family, featuring a cooking competition, People’s Choice Awards, Judges Award, cash awards, best booth decor, tastings, live music, children’s activities and more. All proceeds from Eggs on the Beach will benefit two local charities – Fisher House of the Emerald Coast provides a home away from home for military families so they can be together during treatment for serious illness or therapy. Food For Thought serves students in Okaloosa and Walton County with healthy meals. In addition, tickets may be purchased for a chance to win a Big Green Egg and other items donated by area businesses with these proceeds also benefiting the charity partners.
