July was quite the busy month. At the peak of the summer season this comes as no surprise.

25th Annual Emerald Coast Poker Run & Boat Week | 2017

For the last 25 years, the Emerald Coast Poker Run has been making waves in Northwest Florida! Boat Week is a week long boating celebration on the Emerald Coast that rounds out with The Emerald Coast Poker Run. Benefiting the Emerald Coast Foundation, an organization that supports children’s charities and youth organizations in Okaloosa County, the Emerald Coast Poker Run and Boat Week events, have raised over 2 million dollars to date for its cause. Boat Week events and activities have been designed for the participation and enjoyment of the local community and all of our area visitors.

Tuesday | August 8th | 8 pm | Emerald Grande Mardi Gras Parade
Pull your boat and throw beads along the parade route!

Wednesday August 9th | 6pm AJ's on the Bayou presents Boat Week Blues, Brews, and BBQ 
The official kickoff party, at AJ’s on the Bayou! The kickoff party is traditionally a luau, but this year’s theme is “Blues, Brews and BBQ”. The event will offer food, live music and a chance to check out boats.

Thursday August 10th | Miss Boat Week Bikini Contest at The Block
Find out who is the 2017 Miss Boat Week at the annual bikini contest, which will include bikini bull riding this year. 

Friday August 11th | Rockin the Docks Captains Party AJ's Destin

These adjectives are the core of the current American lifestyle, and we have discovered that these are prominent buyer's hot buttons. Buyers are looking for communities that ameliorate the strains of a demanding and often hurried life. 

Current buyers don't want to drive long distances to work and then drive more to shop, eat, or play. Many second-home buyers and investors are also looking for these master-planned communities. They want to walk, ride a bike or take a quick trip on a golf cart to a location within their communities or to a venue close by. Entertainment, shopping, and recreation are dominant features of these communities. 

Master-planned communities have been around for decades, but in the last few years, the demand has increased dramatically. Buyers of all ages are looking for micro-communities that offer beautifully landscaped environs and mixed-used properties. 

Locally, communities like Rosemary BeachAlys BeachWatercolorSeaside, and Sandestin are experiencing growth much like we saw at the peak. The newest developments at the beach incorporate these buyer demands. Sales are soaring in these type of communities. 

Jay and I purchased a vacation home at Prominence on the eastern side of Scenic Highway 30A. We love the lifestyle, and everything on 30A is just a golf cart ride away. The convenience of the location, with the HUB at the center, and the appreciation potential were our biggest hot buttons.
